Sia Nemat-Nasser (Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering)

Sia Nemat-Nasser is genuinely invested in ensuring that students learn. His lectures often integrate inventive and alternative teaching methods that are simple yet highly effective. As one graduate student stated, “Professor Nemat-Nasser has a way of formulating questions that promote rational thinking and require a physical understanding of the course material. He also presents his lectures with ease and humor that set a stimulating and motivating tone for the class.” The comments and anecdotes from students and peers regarding Professor Nemat-Nasser’s positive impact on engineering students are as countless as his enduring enthusiasm and passion for teaching is boundless. His CAPE scores have consistently been incredibly high, and his excellence has also been acknowledged with seven teaching awards from UC San Diego, including three Best Teacher Awards from the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Professor Nemat-Nasser’s passion, performance, and influence provide inspirational examples for all.
