Kate Antonovics (Economics)

Kate Antonovics is an innovative teacher who makes economics interesting and applicable to everyday life. Her students describe her lectures as attention grabbing, engaging, and relevant, and she has been a trailblazer in the use of technology at UC San Diego. Most recently, incorporating clear, humorous, and instructive videos in class has taken her teaching to a new level, transitioning students from passive listeners to active participants. Dr. Antonovics’s reputation as a dynamic teacher and a respected scholar extends beyond campus as well. Her visibility led to coauthoring the introductory textbook “Principles of Economics” with Ben Bernanke and Robert Frank, and the creation of related online materials based on her experience using technology in the classroom. Dr. Antonovics clearly has had an important and lasting impact on UC San Diego’s instructional mission.
